Four players from Fleetwood Town’s International Football Academy (FTIFA) are heading out to Portugal to join up with partner club CF Estrela da Amadora this Sunday.

Upon arrival, the players will be met with a week of training and an assessment of their skills will follow as they all look for a break into professional football.

The players are split through the FTIFA programmes available, with two of them currently studying at Rossall School and train through the football studies programme, and the other two (pictured) are in full-time training on the Pro Experience program in search of pathways into professional football, across the globe.

The link that FTIFA have created with the Portuguese Division Two side, who took on former FTIFA player Dylan Mass back in 2019, allows players to gain opportunities within a professional European club to see the standards required to make it in the game.

It promises to be a great experience for the players and one which will help them on their football journey. We look forward to hearing how the boys found the challenge and fingers crossed for another success story and offers of contracts.

Ash Moreau, the Senior Development Officer at Fleetwood Town who will accompany the players on the trip said: “It’s a great experience for the players and will give them a taste of European coaching styles, a different philosophy, and playing styles.

“These are all valuable parts of the trip for them, and for me as a coach to pick up ideas and see if we can implement aspects into our own program and sessions.”

If you are interested in any of our programs and would like to discuss them in greater detail, please contact us on info@ftifa.co.uk and check out www.FTIFA.co.uk.
