Batty: These are the games to knuckle down and dig deep

Midfielder Dan Batty spoke to the media ahead of Fleetwood Town’s Sky Bet League One clash against Morecambe on Saturday.

Batty, who is a fans’ favourite within the Cod Army, is hoping that Fleetwood will be able to come out on top in the Lancashire derby at the weekend, which will hopefully turn the tides on the season, meaning the side would rise up the table.

Here’s what Dan had to say in his pre-match interview:

On the Morecambe clash…

“In games like these, we need to knuckle down on and dig deep, like we do every game, and go and chase those three points so we can then focus on the next few games. We need to turn them into wins and draws so we can get more on the board and climb up the table. If we get the sloppiness out of our games, I think we will go on a nice little run.

“Every game is the same to me, it’s just 11v11 and you’ve just got to go out there and perform as best you can. It’s a confidence booster if we turn up and come away with the win as that would mean that we should rise the board, kick on from there, and, hopefully, put a run of games together.”

On the time without a game…

“The results have been going the way we wanted them to go recently but, I think this international break has come at a good time as it’s given us a chance to recoup as a group. It’s made us knuckle down and get back to basics and I think we’ve learned a lot this week.

“There have been quite a few of bodies coming in and out, including myself, but we’ve got our heads down and prepped for this one at the weekend. I had a little spell off and I’m slowly getting back into it now. It’s just about getting my body right and getting the fuel that it needs in there. I feel fit again and I’m ready to go.

“We’ve been working hard over the last couple of weeks. A few double sessions here and there, with gym sessions in between so a lot of work has been put in over the last week or so. It’s been good and it will benefit us in the end. From what we’ve seen so far, from what we’ve been working on, I think it’s going well.”
