Fleetwood Town are set to travel to Portman Road to face Burton Albion on Sunday for another Sky Bet League One clash.

The Cod Army have faced The Tractor Boys three times in competitive fixtures, with Fleetwood winning two, and Ipswich winning the other occasion.

LAST COMPETITIVE CLASH

The last time these sides met, Fleetwood were on a decent run of form, beating Ipswich 2-0 at Highbury Stadium back in March – extending their then-unbeaten run to six games.

Fleetwood managed to take the lead with the first chance of the game as James Hill did one of his trademark throws, from the right into a packed Ipswich box, towards Callum Connolly who nodded the ball into the far corner.

The Cod Army then doubled their lead in the opening stages of the second half as Kyle Vassell started a counter-attack, then fed the ball to Ged Garner, who got the ball out of his feet and drove the ball into the bottom right corner, past Tomas Holy.

LAST TIME AT PORTMAN ROAD

Last time the Cods travelled down to Portman Road, they managed to walk away 1-0 winners late on in the 2019/20 campaign, which meant Fleetwood would take a spot in the play-off positions.

Substitute Ched Evans’ first-half strike was enough to earn all three points on the night, as Barrie McKay slid the ball through to the forward, who worked his way past Callum Chambers and slotted past Holy.

Ipswich almost brought the game back to level terms late on but heroics from Alex Cairns saw them off. Freddie Sears drilled an effort from the penalty spot after an effort was cleared off the line by Evans, with Cairns pulling off a stunning one-handed save to claw the ball away. A massive moment in the game.
