Forward Ged Garner spoke to the press ahead of Fleetwood Town’s trip to face Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.

Garner – who added another goal to his tally in the side’s last outing – is looking to finish his season off well and potentially add to his three goals for the season, that he already has to his name.

Here’s what Ged had to say:

On Sunday’s game…

“It’s just another game to me, I’m not concentrating on the game too much. At the end of the day, I’ll be trying my best to add to my tally and score another goal. We played them a couple of weeks ago and I thought they were a good team that moved the ball well.

“It’s an end-of-the-season game so you just have to make sure that you stay switched on. As I’ve said, they are a good side, and we just need to go there and try to finish our season well. Some of the lads are playing for contracts, like at every club so there is always something to play for in a game like this.

“I’m ready and looking forward to taking on the challenge as I want to take the confidence that I’ve built up throughout this season into the next one. I’ve scored a few goals this year and I want to crack on and build on it.”

On my season…

“It’s been a bit of a mad season for me to be honest, from being on loan at Gateshead to coming back and getting an opportunity. I’ve always thought that when you get the opportunity, you have to take it and I feel that I’ve shown the player that I can be, but I still feel like I’ve more in me so I can crack on next year.

“At the start of the season, I got some games against Carlisle [United] and Wigan [Athletic] but with experienced players ahead of me at the time, it was hard to get around it. I was always playing for the Under-23s, and playing well, but it was breaking through that was hard.

“I was training with some top quality and was constantly learning off them, whether it be shooting drills, or general training. I tried to add what they taught me to my game and when I did get a run of games, I was able to trust myself and my ability to go out and score a few goals.”
