Fleetwood Town are set to travel to Montgomery Waters Meadow on Saturday afternoon to face Shrewsbury Town in another Sky Bet League One clash.

The Cod Army have faced The Shrews 14 times in competitive fixtures, with Fleetwood winning seven, Shrewsbury winning two, with the two sides sharing the points on five occasions.

LAST COMPETITIVE CLASH

The last time these sides met was in October 2020, and Town came out on top as they beat Shrewsbury 1-0 at Highbury Stadium.

The game took a while to get going but it was Fleetwood who managed to find the breakthrough as Ched Evans slotted past Burgoyne. Evans’ goal was the first chance of the game. Danny Andrew ran through the Shrewsbury backline before playing the ball across the edge of the box, past Paddy Madden, all the way to Evans who slotted the ball perfectly into the bottom left corner.

Town could have doubled their lead in the 67th minute as Paul Coutts looped a corner into the box, which was cleared only to Evans on the edge of the box, whose strike had to be cleared off the line by Marlon Fossey.

LAST TIME AT MONTGOMERY WATERS MEADOW

Town’s last trip to the home of The Shrews was back in September 2019, when Fleetwood walked away 3-0 winners after goals from Jimmy Dunne, Josh Morris, and Paddy Madden.

In a game that saw Shrewsbury enjoy plenty of possession in the first half, it was Town who took the lead through Jimmy Dunne, who nodded home his second goal of the season from close range.

Josh Morris doubled Fleetwood’s lead with an effort from two yards after he was teed up by Lewie Coyle just before the hour mark. Paddy Madden made it three late in the game to finish off the afternoon in Shropshire.
