Fleetwood Town’s Under-18s added another win to their tally this season as they managed to beat Rochdale 1-0 at Bower Fold on Tuesday.

The Young Cods had the opening chance in the game as Enoch Takpe received the ball inside the opposition’s area, turned his man but fired his shot just over the crossbar.

Rochdale went on the attack soon after as, in the 8th minute, Paul Kyffin played the ball down the left-wing, before finding Jordan Scanlon, whose shot went wide of the mark.

Two minutes later, they had another chance to break the deadlock as Peter Thomas released Joe Wright, who then teed up Kyffin, but his effort was brilliantly saved by Connor Eastham.

At the half-hour mark, Rochdale had another chance to score as Ben Kershaw’s free-kick ran through a few tackles and his shot bounced off the post. Morgan Kinsella went in for the rebound just after but his header from close range came off the bar.

Just before the break, Scanlon found Louie Chorlton on the right-wing, who cut back to Thomas, but he shot just wide of the target.

Fleetwood came out in the second half on the front foot as Akiel Raffie had the first real chance as he hit a first-time shot towards goal, but it flew just wide.

Rochdale then hit the side-netting from close range and, a couple of minutes later, Raffie pounced on a pass back from Ben Chalton, who then fed the ball to Hayes who rifled his shot home, making it 1-0 to Town.

Eastham was called into action with 15 minutes to go as Luke Nock had his glancing header pushed aside by the goalkeeper from inside the Fleetwood box.

The final whistle then blew as The Young Cods carried on their brilliant form, with another win at Bower Fold.

Town XI: Eastham (GK), Bird, Batch, Edwards, Barratt (C), Feeney, Collins, Raffie, Takpe (Smith 63’), Sithole (Wilson 63’), Hayes.
