National Citizens Service (NCS) is a four-phase programme split over three and two weeks for young people aged 15-17 years old (Year 11 and first year at college).
The first week of the programme will be spent in Penrith, Cumbria. The participants will take part in all sorts of outdoor activities such as Mountain Climbing, Abseiling, Kayaking, and much more.
Activities will be planned for the evening, which aims to both mentally and physically challenge the participants whilst developing team-building skills and confidence. It’s a week those who attend will not forget!
The second week will be based closer to home. This week looks at developing skills aimed to enhance their adult living post-compulsory education. For example, students will get a taste of cooking, CV writing, business planning, and entertainment – who doesn’t like to laugh!
The final week of the NCS programme will be based at Highbury Stadium, Fleetwood. The aim of this week is to help inspire young people, and to find a local group that they are passionate about in their community, by either raising awareness or money towards local charities.
Previous graduates have supported charities that provide care towards mental health and those that are isolated or homeless.
NCS is a nationally recognized initiative that empowers young people to better themselves in an inclusive environment and to finalise the experience of a lifetime. Each person who completes the full programme will receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister.
We have start dates of Monday 19 July 2021 and Monday 9 August 2021 available for any young people aged 15-17 years old to sign up.
