Midfielder Dan Batty spoke to the press after Fleetwood Town’s 2-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.

Batty - who has settled into Town’s midfield with ease – has been hugely influential in his new side since signing in January, quickly proving himself to be one of the first names on the team sheet, enforced today with another stellar performance at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Here’s what Dan had to say:

On the game…

“It was a different kind of game from what we expected, there wasn’t that much football to be played but, in the end, it turned out to be a nice win.

“When I first came, we were on top of teams during games and then I feel like we needed a few goals to really get us going and I feel the last few games we’ve won on the bounce now have been well deserved.”

On being part of the engine room…

“Me, Callum [Camps] and Jordan [Rossiter] all know what each other is about, we understand what roles we do differently to each other, and we have adapted really well and looking forward as a three in there we can do really well.

“We all know what’s expected of each other and I feel we all help the backline out as well. Today the whole team had to be solid as a group and we needed to make sure when we got our opportunities to score it won us the game.”

On picking up form as a team…

“As I say when I came here results weren’t going our way and I knew there was plenty of potential and greatness to come where I was just happy to be out there and to start playing and I knew as soon as I got into training the expected goals will start to come.

“We know what’s going to be expected from us on Tuesday night and I can’t wait for it.”
