Fleetwood Town’s Former Players Association are hoping to restart their monthly meetings ahead of the 2021/22 Sky Bet League One season.
The FPA, who normally meet on the first Thursday of every month at Poolfoot Farm, are planning on meeting for the first time in over a year on Thursday 5 August between 10am and 12pm.
This date has been chosen as it is the final Thursday ahead of the start of the new season, as we know they will not only be looking forward to it, but they will also get a massive boost as the team stride towards the new campaign.
As a club, we wanted to restart the meeting before this scheduled date but, due to changing government guidelines, we have decided to withhold until the start of August. The current roadmap states that larger groups can meet from 19 July so the FPA should be fine to meet on the previously mentioned date.
Stuart Murdoch (FPA Chairman) and Phil Brown (FPA Secretary) will endeavour to contact as many members as possible ahead of the proposed restart date, but it would be appreciated if anybody reading this could spread the word.
Stuart commented: "It seems a very long time since our last meeting and in some ways, this feels like we are starting up from scratch again, remembering our first-ever meeting was attended by eight former players!
“I know from talking to a number of you that our meetings have been greatly missed and it will just be so uplifting to be able to meet up, have a brew and some banter, and get back to seeing familiar faces, even if they are a little older!
“Looking forward to seeing you all again, trust you are keeping fit and well and Government permitting see you all on 5 August."
