Forward Callum Morton spoke to the club after putting pen to paper and securing his loan move to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday morning at Poolfoot Farm.

The 21-year-old arrives on a season-long loan at Highbury Stadium following a successful spell at Lincoln City last season which saw the Imps reach the play-off final.

Here’s what Callum had to say in his first interview with the club:

On the move…

“I’m delighted to get the move done; I think there’s been a long-standing interest from the club. Now that the move is finally done, I’m looking forward to getting started.

“The main thing for me this season is playing as many games as possible and scoring as may goals as I can so hopefully that will in turn help the team out. I’m hoping that it will be a good season here in Fleetwood.

“I think getting 40-50 games under my belt this season will leave me in good stead. Injuries have held me back previously, but I think I’ve come back from them a better player so this season is a big one for me.”

On his style of play…

“I think I’ll add something different to the team. I’m quite energetic, like to get in behind defences and I think the manager has made it clear that the way he plays will suit me down to the ground.

"I think it will and I hope to add goals to the team. With Fleetwood, I would like to add different ways of playing so I can evolve as a player. Off the shoulder is my main strength.

"Previously, at different clubs, I’ve played in different positions and had to explore different areas, but I think my main strength, which people who have seen me play before would say, is to get in behind defences and stretch them.”
