New signing Kyle Vassell sat down with the press after putting pen to paper and told them about how the move came about and how he feels about joining the Cod Army.

The 27-year-old joins up with Fleetwood after making 14 appearances for Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United this season, including an Emirates FA Cup third round clash against Premier League side Everton earlier on this month.

Here’s what Kyle had to say:

On the move…

“I’m delighted to be here, I’ve got to the end of the season to put my head down, play some football and enjoy it as much as I can.

“I know the area very well; it makes it easier to be familiar with surroundings. If you know the area, you can settle in quicker but being honest were, I’m really happy with this move and to be at this club.

“I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t think I would score goals and I couldn’t do well and the fact that the boys do score goals, Paddy [Madden] scores goals, he does everywhere he’s been.

“What he does I need to add to my game, so it’ll be great playing alongside him so there’s goals in the team and I need to be scoring goals again, so I need to be putting myself in teams that do score goals.”

On enjoying his football…

“I just want to enjoy my football and I’m sure I’ll do that here playing games and hopefully scoring goals and helping the team as much as I can and working hard for the boys and the gaffer and just smile, I think that’s an important thing about football that not enough boys do I haven’t done it for a while so that’s what I want to do.

“When you enjoy it, you play your best football you do you best work you do your best stuff. As a player, when I am at my happiest is when I’m at my best and when I’m playing regularly and there is someone to put faith in me, then I always do perform so as I said I’ll get the best out of myself here.

“I was speaking to the boys the squad’s unbelievable on paper and I trained with them today and the boys are quality I’ve come here because the boys want to succeed, as do I. I’ve come to a team that can definitely push in this league and push for promotion.

“I want to improve every day; I needed a fresh start. It’s only an end of season loan but I want to prove myself and I feel like I have a massive point to prove to a lot of people and I want to enjoy and if I can, I will be able to do what I need to do.”
