FLEETWOOD TOWN

Town are looking to get back to winning ways after narrowly losing their last league outing, which finished 1-0 to Portsmouth at Highbury Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Town seemed to be on top for large portions of the game, but it was a John Marquis header from close range that broke the deadlock. Simon Wiles’ side continued to press but couldn’t find a way through the Portsmouth defence.

Before that, Town travelled to the KCOM Stadium to face Hull City in the third round of the Papa John’s trophy which, unfortunately, ended in a 3-2 defeat. Paddy Madden and Wes Burns were on the score sheet on the night but a strike from distance by Lewie Coyle late on meant the Tigers earned their spot in the next round.

MK DONS

MK Dons have had a mixed start to the Sky Bet League One season this year as they currently sit in 16th position, with their last result being a 3-0 loss to Peterborough United.

In the Posh defeat, in-form forward Jonson Clarke-Harris opened up the scoring early on before Sammie Szmodics secured a brace, with a goal either side of the half-time break.

Before that, the Dons had a win and a loss in cup competitions, but the side managed to convincingly beat Swindon Town 4-1 away from home. Cameron Jerome bagged a double, with Daniel Harvie and Regan Poole on the night.

ONE TO WATCH: CAMERON JEROME

One player to watch in Town’s league clash against Milton Keynes is Cameron Jerome. The 34-year-old is the top scorer for the Dons this season as he has bagged nine goals, with seven coming in the league and two in the FA Cup.

Jerome started his career as a trainee at Middlesbrough in 2003, before making the move to play for Cardiff a year later. Whilst at the Welsh club, he made 79 appearances and scored 27 goals in just two years.

A five-year stint at Birmingham City would follow this, seeing the forward continue his goal-scoring form, grabbing over 40 goals for the Blues in just over 200 games. A big-money move to Stoke City came shortly after, where he would spend the next three seasons.

Norwich then moved for Jerome in August 2014, a club where he played for four years, with short spells at Derby County and Turkish side Goztope after that, MK Dons signed the forward permanently in October 2020 and has scored nine goals since joining the side.
