Head Coach Simon Grayson spoke to the media ahead of his side's trip to Home Park to face Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
Grayson saw his side get their first defeat with him in charge on Tuesday as they managed to beat high-flying Doncaster Rovers at Highbury, with goals coming from Kyle Vassell, Paddy Madden and Danny Andrew on the night.
Here’s what Simon had to say in his pre-match press conference:
On recent form…
“When you go to a football club, you have to get a victory as soon as possible as it just settles everybody down. We did ok against Bristol Rovers, getting a clean sheet and a point, but you want to get a win under your belt.
“Sometimes it’s no better than to do it against one of the most in form teams in the country, and one at the top end of the division, so I think all the players took on board what I asked them to do against Bristol Rovers, which they didn’t do as well as we would have liked them to.
“We refocused on Monday about the way we want to do, and they certainly took that on board and did very well, which was very pleasing. We won’t rest on our laurels; we need to make sure we show the same characteristics as we did on Tuesday against Plymouth.”
On the preparation for Saturday…
“I don’t think we are different to any club really, suffering from the Baltic conditions. We’ve got a 4G pitch at the training ground, so we have been out on that but today was all about the second day recovery. You are out on the grass, in the fresh air, do a bit of work and then get ready for a trip down to Plymouth tomorrow.
“Quite a few of the players played 60 to 90 minutes in a Development Squad game against Huddersfield which was good, as they are able to get some game time. It was important to look at them and see what they are all about.
“We will train halfway down, to break up the journey, and do some more work when we get down there. As you can imagine, the boys were in good spirits and are buoyant from the result on Tuesday night.”
