Goalkeeper Alex Cairns spoke to the media after keeping another clean sheet in Fleetwood Town’s Sky Bet League One clash against Bristol Rovers.

Cairns – who has found himself back in the starting lineup over the last month – managed to keep his third clean sheet in just four games, only conceding one in that time, and has attested that the whole team is to thank for the sturdiness at the back.

Here’s what Alex had to say after the game:

On the game as a whole...

“As a goalkeeper, I always pride myself on keeping clean sheets and to keep another one is always a good thing. I know what I can bring to the team, with of those things being my big voice.

“As a back line, we work on keeping clean sheets and this will only breed confidence. We just need to try and get that goal now.

“We’ve brought in a new manager, we’ve kept a clean sheet which is something we need to build on, and now we just need a goal to go with it.

“The game today shows that we all want it, we are all ready to fight for it, and we know that we need to start getting the results we need, but I am sure that they will come.”

On the fine margins in front of goal…

“We keep making chances, and the ‘keeper for them makes a great save today. You start thinking that it might just not be our day.

“The fine margins aren’t dropping for us at the minute in front of goal, but they will come because we are working hard on the training ground, as we do every day.

“Defensively, we are solid and that’s not just the back line, that’s the whole team, so if we can keep that up, I have no doubts that goals with fall for us.”
