Two of the Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies teams were in action at the weekend and here is a round-up of how they did in their respected fixtures.

First Team

Wigan Athletic Ladies & Girls 1-7 Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies

The first-team carried on their great form of late as they built on their 5-0 win over Penwortham two weeks ago, this time overcoming Wigan 7-1 at Carr Mill. It was a professional performance from the Ladies as Payton netted a hat-trick, E.Slater bagged a brace, with both Lord and Parkinson grabbing one apiece.

League position: 7th

Players of the Match: Georgia Payton & Holly Hunter.

Development Squad

Galgate Ladies 3-6 Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Development Squad

The Development Squad bounced back from their defeat to Bury last time out as they played out a nine-goal thriller in their away clash at the weekend. A fantastic performance saw the side win out on the afternoon, with goals coming from O’Neill (2), Stritch (2), Pepper, and Dunning.

League position: 5th

Player of the Match: Louise Stritch.

The Reserves squad were also set to play at the weekend against St Joseph’s Ladies in Accrington, but the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
