Under-18s ran riot in away win over Oldham Athletic in the penultimate game of the Youth Alliance season at Chapel Road.
The young Cods opened the scoring in the game just 20 minutes in through Danny Edwards, who found the bottom-right corner with his strike before Shaun Sithole doubled the lead just five minutes later.
On the half-hour mark, Town made it three after Joe Collins found the back of the net, but Oldham managed to pull one back and take the wind out of Fleetwood’s sails just before the break.
The home side pulled brought the deficit back down to one with 20 minutes to go in the game but an end-of-game burst of energy and class from Cian Hayes saw the lead get restored, and even extended, as he scored a brace in the last ten minutes.
After this result, Fleetwood goes into the final day of the season with a two points gap at the top of the table, with their last game coming up next weekend, which is a home clash against Bolton Wanderers.
