Forward Barrie McKay spoke to the press after his goal was the difference in Fleetwood Town’s 1-0 win at the Keepmoat Stadium against Doncaster Rovers in Sky Bet League One.
With a dominant team performance straight from the off, McKay was influential in every attack with a thoroughly deserved goal in the 51st minute.
Town were comfortable, but the goals could have been more with chances from Kyle Vassell, Ged Garner and Callum Camps, but McKay’s goal meant Town took the three points and a clean sheet back to Lancashire.
Here’s what he had to say:
On the result…
“It was all about showing the right attitude today and we definitely did that – it was a really strong performance from everyone – in the second half we passed the ball around really well and utilised every player we had on the pitch.
“At half-time we got told to get at them a lot more and that’s exactly what I did [for his goal], I thought it was quite a good finish where the reason I came to Fleetwood was to play games, when a new manager comes in you have to impress him with your chances.”
On finishing the season on a high…
“I just want to play football and help the team itself, it’s a great squad we have here and it’s a great bunch of boys as well, everyone adds something different, and I feel I add something different as well.
“We enjoy our football here and I’m playing well with a lot of confidence, for the last few games of the season I want to finish the season on a high and the rest of the boys want to win all the games we have left.”
