Camps: We want to finish the season strong

Midfielder Callum Camps sat down with the press ahead of Fleetwood Town's Sky Bet League One clash against Rochdale, which will take place at Highbury on Saturday.

Camps has been pivotal for the Cod Army this season - featuring alongside Jordan Rossiter, Sam Finley, and Dan Batty in the midfield – and has been amongst the goals, scoring 11 goals in all competitions this campaign.

Here’s what he had to say:

On the game…

"I've got a lot of mates there who I wouldn't like to see go down to League Two but both teams want to win games and want to finish as high as they possibly can. They know that what happens on the pitch isn't personal as both sides want the points.

"It's just another game for us, as it is for them. It's one that they will want to win in order to stay up so it will definitely be a tough game. I'm only one player in the team but you want to make sure that you win your battles.

“We want to win as many games as we can and finish the season strongly, if we do that the players, we attract next season will come in and make us better as well for the running next season.”

On the current season…

“If you would’ve asked me at the start of the season if I would have been happy with 11 goals right now, I would’ve been happy. I started the season well on the goals front and I always make sure that Iwork hard for the team, do a lot of running, try to get on the ball and try to make things tick. If I’m not scoring, I just like to help the team in any other way I can.

“The last goal I scored was Lincoln and I think I was injured after that then so that stopped my rhythm to really try and kick on. Like I say I’ve just stopped to try and stop thinking about scoring and hopefully just having a good game, the goals will just come with it.

"We're taking it game by game, and are trying to not let our season fizzle out. We, as a club, want to finish the season strong and take that form into the next season. A lot of our players are playing for their futures, and they are playing for themselves anyway. That normally leads to results as everyone will be playing the best they can."
