Batty: We were just unlucky not to get one in today

Midfielder Dan Batty spoke to the press after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Peterborough United on a sunny Good Friday at Highbury.

Batty - who signed a new contract with the Cod Army this week – conducted the midfield throughout the tight affair on the Fylde Coast, as he managed to create multiple chances, as well as help out the defence.

Here’s what he had to say:

On the game…

“I think we had some great chances to go and win the game, so it was just unfortunate the way it ended. They got a free-kick, scored from there and it was too late for us to get back into the game.

“We’ve had some great results for ourselves recently as well and we were building on that and we’re just getting together as a group and I feel like we’re becoming solid as a unit so for them to break us down it was always going to be difficult.

“I think we could’ve scored two or three on a different day, I think we get that, but we were just unlucky not to get one in today.”

On his new contract…

“I’m delighted to be at Fleetwood Town. It’s nice to be recognised, to come here and be offered a new contract quite quickly. I’ve really enjoyed my time here, so it was a no-brainer really.

“All of us in the midfield know what’s expected of each other and we all work hard for each other, so you know what you’re going to get every game and that’s a good thing.

“We’re learning to figure each other out, especially myself and obviously the team to understand how I play as well, and I think we’ve got a good chance next season to give it a real go.”
