Defender Danny Andrew sat down with the media ahead of Fleetwood Town’s Sky Bet League One trip to face Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
Andrew – who has featured for both the Cods and Doncaster – scored the final goal in Fleetwood’s 3-1 win over Rovers earlier on in the season, which took place at Highbury Stadium. On the day, Kyle Vassell cancelled out Jason Lokilo’s opener, before Paddy Madden added a second, with Andrew finishing off the game with a brilliant strike from distance.
Here’s what Danny had to say in his pre-match interview:
On the game…
“We know they are a good team, but we have the ability to beat any team in this league. We have shown it, beating teams at the higher end of the table, but we just haven’t been able to keep up the consistency over the season, which has resulted in us not being as high in the table as we wanted to be.
“It’s one of those games you keep an eye out for when the fixtures come out to see when you’re playing against your old teams and you look forward to seeing familiar faces.
“They are close to the playoffs; it will be a tough game and we know that as they will be looking to get the three points to keep their playoff hopes alive, but we will be going into it like all games looking to get all three points.”
On the remainder of the season…
“There are only four games left, we don’t want to go into the summer break thinking we have just let the season fiddle out. We want to finish with the season on a high with wins, goals, and clean sheets which will help give us momentum going into next season.
“We haven’t had bad performances, we have still been playing well as a team, it’s a bit like our season we have been so close, but we have just struggled a little to get over the line in games. However, it’s just the case of taking each game as it comes and trying to get all three points and seeing where it’ll take us."
