Forward Harvey Saunders spoke to the press after scoring two goals against Carlisle United in Fleetwood Town's 3-1 win at Brunton Park.

Saunders – who scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday night – provided a second half brace in Fleetwood’s EFL Trophy fixture, helping the side overcome a tough Carlisle side.

Here is what Harvey had to say after the match…

On the result…

“I’m over the moon, it’s always nice to get the win and them goals as well – you’ve got to give it up to the lads though for those two incredible balls, made it a lot easier for me to do.

“It was a real display. It’s really good that the young ones are getting a chance but like you say, the more experienced pros are key in this to push us through and help us in situations we’re not used to.

“It’s great that we came back but, I mean it could’ve gone the opposite way it could’ve crumbled but it didn’t. We’ve got the experience pushing us through and you know we come back and got the result.”

On his performance…

“I didn’t even see the second one go in I just kind of waited for the lads to tell us it went in.

“You have to grab the opportunity with both hands, you know. You never know this could be the only one you get all season so hopefully I can keep my shirt. Hopefully, I’ll put my name in his [Joey Barton’s] head.

“It’s always a nice feeling but you know, like I said, it was a team performance and they’ve all done great.”
