Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signing of defender Sam Stubbs on a two-year deal, with the club holding an option for a further year.

The 21-year-old centre-back joins the Cod Army from Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough, bringing Scottish Premiership, Eredivisie, League One and League Two experience with him.

Stubbs came through the Everton and Wigan Athletic academies before signing a professional contract with the Latics. He made the move to Boro a few years later, where he earned valuable game time at Hamilton Academical and ADO Den Haag whilst on loan during that time.

The defender arrives at Fleetwood full of fitness, after featuring in Middlesbrough’s 5-1 pre-season win over Newcastle United earlier this month and is now available for Saturday’s League One opener against Burton at Highbury.

If you would like to sponsor Stubbs for the upcoming season, please contact our Commercial Executive, Sam Heaney, by emailing him on sam.heaney@fleetwoodtownfc.com.

Welcome to the Cod Army, Sam!
