Midfielder Josh Morris spoke to the club after scoring the winner in Fleetwood Town’s Carabao Cup Round Two win over Port Vale at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday night.

Morris – who has scored two goals in the Carabao Cup this season – received the ball from Callum Camps on the edge of the box before striking the ball past Dino Visser, adding to Paddy Madden’s earlier goal.

After the match, here is what he had to say…

On his goal…

“I’m delighted to have scored another goal, but more importantly, it’s nice to get through to the next round of the competition.

“Camps has flicked it down for me, and it’s bounced, I’ve controlled it and smacked it with my left foot. It was good to see it go in as it means we go to the next round.”

On the team’s performance…

“I think we had chances in the first half hour and, after half-time, they started to get back into the game and they made it tough for us. Maybe on another day, we could have had three or four, but tonight we are just happy to have got through to the next round.

“They were a good side, we played them in pre-season, and I think we played them in pre-season last year as well. They are a tough side, they always are, and that’s why we are glad we got the win.”

On the side’s momentum…

“That’s four wins on the bounce now so it’s all about keeping the momentum going as we want to win every game we play.

“We’ve got a strong squad, and everyone is trying to push for places but, it’s up to the lads who get picked to and win the game to keep up that momentum.”
