Forward Barrie McKay sat down with the club after signing a season-long loan deal and spoke about what it is like for him to be back on the Fylde Coast.

McKay – who was on loan with the Cod Army last season - became a fans’ favourite during the Cod Army’s play-off push last season, scoring twice in his ten games on loan at Highbury Stadium in the second half of the season.

Here’s what Barrie had to say in his interview:

On the move…

“I’m buzzing to be back at Fleetwood, getting back to playing games and trying to help the team.

“It’s good to be back – it’s easy coming back here because you know all the surrounding and all the staff. Most of the players I played with last year are still here so that will make it an easier settling in period.

“Everyone seems to be excited having me back and that was probably the biggest thing for me coming back was the belief I had, not only from the players but the coaching staff last year so hopefully I can repay that.

“I just want to get out there and start playing with the boys. Obviously, they’ve added a lot of good players and they are scoring some goals – hopefully, I can create some for them and score some myself.

On the season coming up…

“It’s been a really good start for the team. As I was here last year and I still have friends here, I was keeping tabs on the team and the opportunity for me to come back came up so I started looking at it a bit more in-depth.

“Last year is in the past and you have to move on from it. The way I play is that I want to attack, and I want to score goals – hopefully, I can bring that to the team this season.

“Every interview I do, I seem to say I want to add more goals and I just think I need that run of games in the team and hopefully they will come.
