Fleetwood Town’s Under 16s are set to travel to the Alexandra Stadium for the EFL Northern Floodlit Cup final against Crewe Alexandra on Thursday evening at 7pm.
Matt Lawlor – who is the club’s Youth Development phase coach – has guided his side all the way to the final of the competition, beating tough opposition along the way.
The Under 16s started the tournament in a group with Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and Morecambe, and finished atop of the group, with a notable performance coming in their 4-3 win over Preston being crucial.
Town were eventually drawn against Barnsley in the Northern semi-finals of the competition and came away 2-1 victors thanks to goals from Mitch Nordwind and Kaiden Pirrie.
