Defender Sam Stubbs is delighted with the team’s performance and opening his goalscoring account as Fleetwood overcame Hull City 4-1 in the Sky Bet League One fixture.

A first Fleetwood goal for Stubbs was Fleetwood’s final goal of the evening and what seemed to be the final nail in the visitor’s coffin.

“It feels weird to score, because that’s my first goal, as I said I didn’t know how to react to it so when I celebrated, I just started laughing.”

The win was Fleetwood’s first win in the league since the opening day win over Burton Albion and Hull City’s first defeat this season.

“Obviously we haven’t had the start that we wanted and we knew they were unbeaten and that they were coming here with confidence but I thought the lads were brilliant tonight, we were very, very good and that reflected on the score line.”

There’s been lots of talk recently on letting fans back in with various campaigns about and Stubbs is more than ready to welcome supporters back into the stands.

“With it being a Friday game under the lights and on Sky Sports it would have been a great atmosphere, it’s disappointing we can’t have fans in, we understand why, but the sooner we get fans in the better.”

Stubbs is yet to feel what a full Highbury is like on a matchday, but he’s ready to embrace it when that day comes.

“I’m looking forward to when fans can come back, that win was for them”
