FLEETWOOD TOWN

Town will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday as they dropped out of the Emirate FA Cup on Saturday after a 2-0 loss to Hull City.

Fleetwood were forced into two changes and finished the cup tie against The Tigers with ten men through injury. The side went behind in the first half after Josh Magennis broke the deadlock and Reece Burke’s header doubled Hull’s lead midway through the second half.

In the game before, Charlton quickly found themselves with a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Ben Purrington and Conor Washington, but a quickfire brace from Ched Evans brought Town back level as the headed into the break. A penalty was the difference in the second half as Washington completed his brace from the spot.

SUNDERLAND

Sunderland currently find themselves with a perfect record in this season Papa John’s Trophy group stage, with wins over Aston Villa U21 and Carlisle United already under the belts.

They started their campaign with a home tie against The Villains U21s side and put eight goals past them on the night, with Charlie Wyke grabbing two and six other scorers also managed to get on the scoresheet.

Almost a month after that game, they had another home cup clash, but this time against Carlisle, which finished 5-3. Chris Maguire secured a brace in that game, with Denver Hume, Wyke and Jack Diamond scoring the other three.

ONE TO WATCH – CHARLIE WYKE

One to watch from Oxford is forward, Charlie Wyke. The 27-year-old joined the Black Cats back in August 2018 after joining from now Sky Bet League Two side Bradford City.

Wyke started his career as a trainee at Middlesbrough and went on loan to Kettering, Hartlepool, AFC Wimbledon and back to the Pools respectively. Across those four loan spells, he managed to appear in over 65 games and score ten goals.

After leaving Boro, he made his way to Carlisle United in January 2015 and spent two years at Brunton Park. Wyke found his scoring form here as he scored 39 goals in just 89 games, and subsequently earned a move to Bradford.

After bagging 23 more goals, he moved onto Sunderland and has since made over 70 appearances and has been a constant figure so far this season.
