Head coach Joey Barton spoke to the press ahead of his side's Sky Bet League One clash against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Town head into the side on the back of a convincing 4-1 win over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium last Saturday, with Callum Camps scoring a brace and striker Paddy Madden and Ched Evans scoring the goals on the day.

Here's what Joey had to say ahead of the game:

On the opposition…

“They’ve built a good side there, I think Ryan’s [Lowe] has done a good job at Bury, getting them promoted before what happened there and then he headed to Plymouth and got them promoted at the first time of asking there.

“They have come into this division riding the crest of a wave. Seeing their game against Portsmouth on the telly the other night, they are no mugs, they were organised, well-coached and well drilled.

“If we aren’t on the ball and bang at it, they will fancy their chances. They’re level on points with us with a game in hand, where most of their games have been at home. They’ve been good there but are probably waiting for their away record to improve.

“They’re coming to a tough place for any team in our division to come to and Saturday is our opportunity again, after a couple of away games, to get back to business at home like we did against Sunderland in the Papa John’s Trophy.”

On the squad…

“Everybody is in contention to play. Obviously, Mark Duffy missed out last weekend but he’s back fit and ready to play. He’s been training the last couple of days, so he comes back into the fold. Tom Edwards came off with a dead leg against Bristol, which seized up at half-time, but he has trained all week and looks fine. Sam Finley is the same, but he is back now.

“We’ve got near enough a full complement, with the two lads coming back from their concussion protocols now. Ched [Evans] was on the bench on the weekend and Harvey [Saunders] took a little bit longer but he’s back in the fold now and is ok.

“Apart from Sam Stubbs and Joel Coleman, we have a clean bill of health, they are back on the grass but not quite ready to join the squad at this current time.”
