Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce that Jay Matete has signed his first professional contact with the club.
The 18-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a deal until the end of the 2020/21 season, with the club holding an option for an extra year.
Matete has featured in three Leasing.com Trophy matches this season, recently starting his first game for the club against Accrington Stanley earlier this month.
After watching the young midfielder sign professional terms, head coach Joey Barton said: “We’re really pleased to see Jay sign with us at Fleetwood Town.
“He is a player with a bright future ahead of him, and we look forward to watching him develop in the future with our other talented group of young players.”
