Fleetwood Town’s new loan signing Callum Connolly spoke to the media on Thursday and previewed the side’s trip to Burton Albion.

Connolly joined Town on loan until the end of the season from Premier League side Everton on Monday, and his hoping to make his debut at the Pirelli Stadium this weekend.

Town are currently looking to two games unbeaten away from home and are looking to extend that run against the Derbyshire side.

Here’s what he had to say:

On Burton Albion…

“It’s going to be a tough game, Burton are a good side and pass the ball around a lot compared to previous years, but we played them a few weeks ago and they looked good then. It’s going to be a tough game at their place.

“I feel good going into the game and hopefully we put in a strong performance and we’re looking for all three points.”

On being welcomed into the club…

“Joey [Barton] likes me as a player and he wants to get me in the team and feels that I will be a good addition for the club. Hopefully, I can repay him as he’s brought me here so I’ve got to step up and let my performances do the talking on the pitch.

“The last few days, I’ve been a bit up and down because the lads have had the games. I’ve been training on my own but we’re training all together today so it’ll be good to see a few faces on the field.”

On League One…

“This league is very tough to get out of but the games in hand can take us right up there, so we’ve just got to put in some good performances and match the first half of the season and then some more.
