Fleetwood Town can confirm that we have activated the option to extend the contract of Alex Cairns’ contract until the summer of 2021.
The 27-year-old joined the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2016, and has gone on to feature 158 times for the Cod Army, including 136 matches in League One.
Doncaster-born Cairns has kept 54 clean sheets in league competitions, including one in the 2016/17 play-off campaign.
