Fleetwood Town can confirm goalkeeper Billy Crellin has joined Sky Bet League Two side Bolton Wanderers on loan.

The Fleetwood-born keeper has represented England at Under 17, 18 and 19 level, and has gained experience whilst previously out on loan before at FC United of Manchester and Chorley.

Crellin, who is contracted to the club until 2022, impressed during his eight appearances for the Cod Army last season, including the Emirates FA Cup clash against Barnet.

And Town boss Joey Barton feels it’s a move which comes at the perfect time for his development.

“Billy committed to a long-term contract with recently and is a player we hold in very high regard at the club,” he said.

“The most important thing for him now is going out and playing regular first-team football. There was plenty of interest for Billy this summer but we felt a season in League Two at Bolton was the perfect place for him.

“Bolton are a big club with a highly-rated young manager in Ian Evatt and hopefully it’s a move which will prove beneficial for everyone."

Everyone at the club wishes Billy all the best whilst on loan at the University of Bolton Stadium.
