Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies are out of The Women’s FA Cup after a 5-0 loss to Harrogate Town Ladies at The CNG Stadium on Sunday.

Dave Butler’s side started out the game the better side, applying pressure to Harrogate’s backline, but they were unable to create any gilt-edge chances early on.

In the 19th minute, Lindsey Whitton lobbed the ball over the Fleetwood defence towards Sophie Tinson who struck the ball past the keeper to open up the scoring.

Beth Davies then doubled their lead with a drilled strike from outside the area, which flew straight into the top right corner of Fleetwood’s goal five minutes later.

The Cod Army players’ heads didn’t drop as they looked to get back into the game, creating multiple chances before the half, troubling Kelly Jackson-Powell, but they weren’t able to open their account for the day.

Harrogate then piled the pressure on Fleetwood as Rosie Gill, Holly Smith and Tinson all managed to grab goals in the second half.

The first team are back in action on Sunday 29th September against Crewe Alexandra at Cumberland Arena (2pm kick-off). The address for the venue is: Cumberland Arena, Thomas Street, Crewe, CW1 2BD.
