Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies lost 5-0 to West Didsbury & Chorlton Women’s on Sunday afternoon at The Recreation Ground.

The hosts opened up the scoring two minutes into the game as Rachael Dunlop gets on the end of a through ball and placed the ball past Kathryn Heaton.

West Didsbury doubled their lead in the 26th minute as Fleetwood struggled to clear their lines, with the ball eventually finding its way to Sophie Bracegirdle who struck the ball into the top corner.

Town started to come into the game a couple of minutes later as they managed to forge a chance but Olivia Schilling stops it with a diving save.

Just before the half, the hosts made it three as Shauna Edmondson, after just coming back onto the pitch after an injury, placed the ball past Heaton after an Elizabeth Livesey headed pass.

Town started the second half the better side, as they managed to create a few chances but unfortunately, none of them were struck on target.

After this, West Didsbury closed out the game as Sophie Woods made it four with ten minutes to go, and Dunlop sealed her brace with seconds to go left.

The first team are back in action on Sunday 22nd September against West Didsbury & Chorlton at Recreation Ground for their Women’s FA Cup First Qualifying Round (2pm kick-off). The address for the venue is: The CNG Stadium, Wetherby Road, Harrogate, HG2 7SA.
