FLEETWOOD TOWN

Fleetwood sit 4th in Sky Bet League One following an emphatic 4-1 win against Burton at the weekend. A victory against the Sky Blues would see Joey Barton’s men register four wins in their last five games.

Paddy Madden sits third in the League One goal-scoring charts on nine goals following his hat trick against the Brewers at the weekend. The striker also has a 75 minutes per goal ratio, the second best in the league.

There are no new injury concerns for Town’s head coach, but he will be without captain Paul Coutts after the midfielder picked up his 5th yellow card of the season on Saturday.

COVENTRY CITY

Coventry sit 6th in the table, and despite a promising start to the season, they are without a win in four. Their last match was a goalless draw away to MK Dons, and a win for the Cod Army would see Mark Robins’ side potentially drop out of the play-off zone.

The Sky Blues’ leading goal scorer Matt Godden could miss the game following a groin injury. The 28-year-old striker sat out of their last fixture and looks unlikely to feature in Wednesday’s game.

Starting centre-back Kyle McFadzean will be available for selection again following his red card against Rotherham United.

LAST TIME WE MET

The last time Fleetwood and Coventry City met, former Town striker Jordy Hiwula scored late in the first half for the Sky Blues in a 2-1 win towards the end of the 2018/19 season.

Ched Evans scored just past the half hour mark, but it wasn’t enough for the three points.

ONE TO WATCH: JORDY HIWULA

With joint top scorer Matt Godden looking unlikely to start through injury, striker Jordy Hiwula will be their biggest threat. The Sky Blues’ forward has registered four goals this season, whilst assisting two goal.

The 24-year-old started his career in Manchester City’s youth setup, and after a successful loan spell at Walsall, he signed permanently for Huddersfield Town in 2015.

Whilst with the West-Yorkshire side, the forward enjoyed various loan spells at Wigan, Walsall and Bradford before subsequently joining Fleetwood for the 2017/18 season.

After registering eight goals in 43 games for the Cod Army, he earned himself a permanent transfer to Mark Robins’ side, where he has managed 14 goals from 52 appearances.

WHAT JOEY BARTON HAD TO SAY:

"They're a really good team. They were good last year and Mark Robins has done a great job with how he has got them playing. Coventry are similar to us in many ways, bringing younger players through.

"They have been a club that have produced some great players over a long period of time. They play in the right way and are tough opponents. I am not surprised where they sit this season and how they have started off this season."
