Fleetwood Town’s Under 18s have made it 12 wins in a row after beating Doncaster Rovers 1-0 in the Youth Alliance Cup at Poolfoot Farm on Saturday.

Simon Wiles’ side went into the cup tie on the back of an unbeaten start to the season in all competitions and the tie against Doncaster was no different as Carl Johnston’s strike, which flew into the top corner from range, was the difference on the day.

The Cod Army youngsters dominated the ball in the midfield throughout the game, with Dylan Boyle, Barry Baggley and Johnston playing quick one-two passes to break down the Donny defence.

Anthony Williams showed his skills as he played between the lines in the cup tie and proved his quality as he lofted the ball over the top for Johnston’s goal.

Doncaster applied some pressure in the second half and made it difficult for Fleetwood to play their normal style. Due to a stern performance at the back, and a good performance from Scott Pengelly, the Under 18s secured their 10th clean sheet in a row.

The Under 18s are back in action on Saturday 16 November as they host Accrington Stanley in another Youth Alliance fixture, with a 10:30am kick-off.
