Fleetwood Town’s special series of summer events – combining live sport, Hollywood blockbuster movies and plenty of free fun for all the family – kicks off this weekend.
The Cod Army is holding its end-of-season Family Fun Day on Saturday May 11 at Poolfoot Farm in Thornton – the club’s state-of-the-art training facility and leisure complex.
Highlights include a host of football competitions, fun activities, pop up refreshment stalls and a BBQ, together with a special outdoor screening of the smash-hit Marvel superhero movie Avengers Assemble.
This will be shown on Poolfoot’s huge 11m2 screen and fans of all ages are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Avengers heroes!
The big screen will remain in place all weekend and will show Sunday’s crucial final round of Premier League fixtures.
Saturday’s Family Fun Day, which begins at 10am, is supporting the British Heart Foundation. The charity will have teams at Poolfoot on the day – together with their mascot Mr Hearty – and will host a number of fun activities.
This summer’s not-to-be-missed programme of family events at Poolfoot – which are all ABSOLUTELY FREE to attend – follows the huge success of the special World Cup Nights hosted at the venue last summer.
The 2019 Summer Events Schedule is based around key events in the sporting calendar including Premier League Finals Day (May 12), FA Cup Final (May 18), Champions League Final (June 1), England v Netherlands (June 6) and UEFA Nations League Finals (June 9).
FTFC Chief Operating Officer Richard Simkin said: “We cannot wait to welcome families here to Poolfoot Farm on Saturday for what should be a great Fun Day. It is also forecast to be sunny, so we’ll have it all here!
“The World Cup, and of course England’s success, drew thousands of people to Poolfoot Farm last summer. 2019 may not be a World Cup year but we want to recreate that fantastic atmosphere by holding a series of family friendly events from May through to July.
“Poolfoot and its fantastic facilities are enjoyed by countless people every week of the year, but we want to increase that enjoyment by arranging a full Summer Events Schedule that will cater for everyone.”
