Forward Paddy Madden signed a new long-term deal at the club on Monday - after scoring 19 goals in all competitions in his first full season with the Cod Army.

The Irishman claimed the Golden Boot at the End of Season Awards Dinner, and with his new contract, he will be looking to reach that 20-goal mark next season.

Here is what Paddy had to say after signing his new deal…

On the three-year contract extension…

“Since the day I arrived here at Fleetwood, I have loved every minute of it, and I am just happy that I have done well in that time and done what I do best which is score goals. That is what I know to score goals and I have done that since I was four-years-old.

“I will be looking to get many more in the time I have signed here and maybe go and break some more records. I will look to get over 20 next season because, as I have said, I am a 20 goals a season player.”

On the goal this season that stands out the most…

“One goal that stands out for me is the one against Blackpool. To score the winner against Blackpool was nice as I don’t normally score fancy goals like that – it might have come off my shin pad!

“It was a great moment and I know it meant a lot to the club as it was the first time they had beaten Blackpool.”

On the targets for the next three years…

“My plans now are to try and get this club where it wants to be, and that is the Championship. Obviously, we will need the goals to get us there, but we all want the same things in the dressing room.

“The fans have made it really easy for me and that is one reason why it was easy to make this decision. I think one reason why I have done so well is that we have that relaxed feeling around the club, where at other clubs you might get some who get on your back.

“The supporters have been top notch since I have been here, and I can’t thank them enough.”

On what he will be getting up to over the summer break…

“In the summer I will be going away to Dublin to see the family, with the dogs it’s hard to find a dog sitter but it will be nice to see my family and friends and then have two or three weeks there, but I’d say I will let my hair down, but that has gone now so I can’t do that!”
