Players, staff and sponsors all attended the club’s annual Awards Night Dinner in the Parkside Suite at Highbury on Monday night.
Laughter and chatter flooded the suite throughout the night, as everyone enjoyed and reflected on their best moments of the 2018/19 campaign.
The night started off with a three-course meal – prepared by the food and beverage team at Highbury Stadium – which seemed to go down a treat with all that attended and was accompanied with a catch up by our head coach Joey Barton.
Soon after the dessert was served, the awards began and the first one up on stage was the Community Player of the Year, which was awarded to goalkeeper Alex Cairns.
Paddy Madden then picked up his first award of the night, as he was named our Club Sponsors Player of the Year. The forward was back on stage later on in the night as he went to collect the Golden Boot – after scoring 19 goals in all competitions including his favourite against Blackpool back in October.
Wes Burns may have to buy a bigger trophy cabinet as he picked up the BES Utilities Player of the Year award. This should sit nicely next to his trio of awards (Player of the Season, Official Supporters Club Player of the Season and Goal of the Season) from the Fan Awards Night.
Finally, it was time for the Chairman’s Player of the Year and it was Ched Evans who won this one. Andy Pilley chose the on-loan Welshman after contributing on-and-off the field for the football club, and also his 18 goals for the season may have helped the cause as well!
Martin Booker, Head of Commercial, spoke after the night saying: “It was great to get Joey’s thoughts on his first season in management and give the playing squad the recognition for various achievements this season.
“Thanks to all our sponsors and supporters for attending the event to close the official club calendar of events for the season. It was another well-attended event.”
We hope everyone who attended the night enjoyed it and we will see you all next season!
