Fleetwood Town had a special guest on Tuesday night as football fan Mick Thickbroom travelled from Australia to watch the Cod Army.
It has been an action packed sports tour for football enthusiast, Mick Thickbroom as he took in Fleetwood Town’s final home game against Sunderland on Tuesday night as part of his 50th birthday celebrations.
The Darwin based electrician flew into Gatwick Airport a week ago before taking in Liverpool's win over Huddersfield, Brighton versus Newcastle and Leicester City's win over Arsenal.
Mick enjoyed the game at Highbury, and whilst at the ground, he picked up some club merchandise and also found out what a Fleetwood chippy tea was like – with chippy being the Australian equivalent of a carpenter!
The sporting journey now picks up pace with a visit to the Crucible for the snooker, then a trip to Manchester for darts, and then ground hops to Everton’s Goodison Park where they will face Burnley, and then to St James’ Park for Newcastle take on Liverpool.
Mick is also planning to visit to Hillsborough to watch Sheffield Wednesday take on Queens Park Rangers before heading back home on the 7th May, and we hope you had a great – albeit short - time on the Fylde Coast, and on your tour of the United Kingdom.
Happy Birthday Mick!
