Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signing of Josh Morris.

Morris joins the Cod Army on the back of three successful seasons at Scunthorpe United, with the club fighting off competition from teams in the Championship and League One for the 27-year-old’s signature.

The Preston-born midfielder has already enjoyed two loan spells at the club, his first culminated in the club winning promotion to League One via the playoffs in 2014, where Morris played 90 minutes in the victory over Burton Albion. The second was the following season, where the club finished 10th in the third tier, with Morris featuring in 45 league games, scoring eight times.

The left-sided player returns to Highbury with a stellar League One pedigree, having being named in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2016/17 season, having scored 19 goals from midfield.

Morris has signed a two-year deal, and will wear the vacant number 11 shirt.

Head coach Joey Barton said following the arrival of his second summer signing: “We are delighted to welcome Josh back to Highbury.

“He has been an outstanding League One player for a number of years and comes to us following a very successful period of his career at Scunthorpe.

“I’m sure this signing – along with the capture of Danny Andrew – will excite the fans as we head towards the start of pre-season. We look forward to seeing both make a huge impact on our squad.”
