Fleetwood Town FC are saddened to learn of the passing of our former player, first team coach and assistant manager Malcolm Denning.

Malcolm sadly passed away at Preston Royal Infirmary on Sunday 7th July following a short illness.

Malcolm made his Fleetwood Town debut on 23rd January 1960 away at New Brighton in the Lancashire Combination, and he went on to make 31 first team appearances, scoring 11 goals, before moving on to Horwich RMI.

He later played for Bacup Borough and Lytham before returned to Fleetwood in 1979 as first team coach, working alongside both Alan Tinsley and Kevin Byrne, before later becoming the club’s assistant manager.

In retirement, Malcolm was a long standing season ticket holder in the Highbury Stand, and a hugely popular member of our Former Players Association, regularly attending meetings right up to his untimely death.

All at the club would like pass our sincere condolences to Malcolm’s wife Sylvia and his family at this difficult time.
