Fleetwood Town Community Trust working in partnership with Fleetwood Town visited Flakefleet Primary School to hand over 100 tickets for the pre-season friendlies against Burnley and Preston North End.
The school was also handed five junior Onward Cards for children to attend matches throughout the season at the discretion of the school, to reward good behaviour and excellence.
Headteacher Dave McPartlin said: “Fleetwood Town have been in Flakefleet for many years now, however, over the last few years our relationship has grown from strength to strength with some fantastic collaborative work.
“Alongside the clubs and activities run here at Flakefleet, we have welcomed any initiatives from the coaches such as healthy eating sessions with children , resilience sessions and healthy living with our families.
“The team are always helping with fundraisers whatever the cause and are always willing to go the extra mile e.g. with children in need they helped us reach the biggest total yet and showed the North West how successful working in partnership within your community can be.
“Fleetwood Town have regularly given us free tickets to matches to hand out to our families and to be used for rewards and prizes. This is to help promote positive behaviour alongside encouraging engagement and accessibility to local resource in the heart of our community.”
Fleetwood Town General Manager Dave Riche added: “Flakefleet School have done a lot to raise the profile of the community and we wanted to reward them. We know they are always looking for ways to reward their children for excellence and to give them opportunities and this is just a small gesture on behalf of the club and the Trust.
“We are working in partnership with the excellent work done by the Trust to engage with as many schools as possible as we look to grow our next generation of supporters.”
An Under 16 Onward Card for the 2019/20 season is just £23 to stand or £50 to sit anywhere in the ground and can be paid monthly over ten instalments or in full. So it is just £1 a game to stand up, or just or £2.17 to sit down and enjoy the match.
