Fleetwood Town earlier announced the appointment of the experienced football man, Steve Burr as the club’s new Senior Club Scout.

Steve’s role at the football club will see him working closely with the management team, as well as the scouting team to ensure the right players are coming through the doors.

The 59-year-old brings over 30-years of experience with him, with Burr managing nine different clubs, whilst also being the Assistant Manager for the England C team.

Steve is excited about taking his first steps in the position and can’t wait to get started with the Cod Army.

“I am delighted to be given this opportunity,” said Burr.

“I have followed the non-league scene for a very long time now and for me, this was the right moment for me to step into this new role. I have come up against Fleetwood Town before, and it’s unbelievable where they have come from in such a short space of time.

“After speaking to Chairman Andy Pilley, CEO Steve Curwood, and a number of other staff, it helped me make my mind up. This is a fantastic club and I am looking forward to getting started.”

The club have had success in recent years looking at players in the lower tiers of English football, and Burr knows it won’t just be him looking for the next non-league star.

He added: “Everybody is looking for that next Jamie Vardy after that success story.

“With my connections in and around the non-league scene and in the Football League, hopefully, they will be valuable. Let’s hope we can find that next gem, I know the players are out there, it’s about finding that one and getting him through the door at Fleetwood Town.”

“Already taken in a few matches in myself, and I am impressed with what I have seen. The young lads that have come through, they will continue to get chances, but they need to keep working hard and show what they have to offer. It’s an exciting time to be at Fleetwood as I stated earlier, and I’m really delighted to be given this opportunity to work with a fantastic bunch of lads.”
