Ched Evans spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Rotherham United at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Evans has been key in the Cod Army’s attack this season, forming a strong partnership with leading goalscorer Paddy Madden.

The two are set to line-up against The Millers, with Fleetwood knowing that a win could take them back into the top-six in the division.

See below the key quotes from Ched’s pre-match press conference at Poolfoot Farm.

On Town’s away form…

“Personally, I enjoy playing away, but it can be down to mindset. We need to be harder to score against away from home and be more ruthless and professional like we are at home at seeing a game through. If we crack that it’ll be an interesting end to the season.

“We just need to get the games, get them in and get the wins before we talk about winning them, getting the points on the board away from home will be a massive boost and get the monkey off the back when we do get that win. You can’t get promoted on just winning at home, and for us away the football’s not going to be as pretty.”

On his form this season…

“My form has been okay but I could probably chip in with a few more goals. Saying that, I’ve been consistent with my performance and I feel like were performing well as a team. We were unlucky on Saturday, but other than that we’re going in the right direction.

“For me this season is about getting where we want to be which is in the Championship, and if I can perform and help the team win, I’m pleased with that. Obviously as a striker I’d like to score goals as well, but I’m enjoying it at the moment.”

On the busy Christmas period…

“The games are coming thick and fast so it’s going to be a lot of minutes played over the next 15 days so its vital that the squad repairs, recuperates and we do things right. It’s a key period for us as a team to get some points on the board.

“I don’t think it’ll define our season, but I think it will definitely help towards looking at where we want to finish up.

“I think if we get some decent points on the board over this period we go into January and it puts us in a really good position to finish the season strong and gives us something to work towards.”
