Fleetwood Town Community Trust are recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to assist sports delivery across Wyre!

Fleetwood Town Volunteer is a very exciting opportunity available for both males and females aged 14 years and above and are wanting to gain new skills and qualifications along their coaching journey.

The project gives people the chance to shadow the lead and assistant coaches on community programmes, assisting activities such as football, dodgeball, tennis, dance and much more!

Volunteers are able to learn and develop skills such as leadership, confidence, communication and delivering sports to groups of young people and adults in inclusive environments.

Andrew has been volunteering with the Trust for over two years and is now an extremely valuable paid member of staff that assists on Development Football and TrySport programmes across Wyre.

Andrew explained, “Having played football for 10 years I wanted to take part in football in a different way to playing.

“I decided to volunteer as coach for Fleetwood Town Community Trust to see what it is like to coach instead of playing. I have developed numerous skills from volunteering with Fleetwood, these include how to work in a team of coaches as well as on my own.

“I have improved my communication skills with young people and learnt techniques such as how to keep them engaged in activities for a whole session. The thing I enjoy most about coaching is seeing young people enjoying themselves because of me and I’m coaching them. This also includes seeing young people progress because of the work I’m doing with them.”
