Fleetwood Town, alongside Wyre Council have worked together to open up a number of football pitches at Thornton Cleveleys on the Burn Naze site.

On Saturday, prior to the Bristol Rovers match, head coach Joey Barton officially opened the new pitches behind Poolfoot Farm, which will enable the local community and local grassroots teams to play on professionally maintained, and affordable pitches on the Fylde Coast.

Following a discussion with the local council and Thornton Cleveleys Football Club, it was agreed that goals would be up on a permanent basis to get people using it for kick-about purposes during the week.

The pitches will enable more people to come to Poolfoot Farm and use associated facilities. With this, Poolfoot Farm will be running a Summer League alongside the Cartforth & District League, and this will see a Fleetwood Town team and BES team included too, so why not get in touch about getting involved.

Michael Horsfall, the Football and Facilities Operations Managaer at Poolfoot said is very pleased to get this initiative over the line, and believes it can only be good for the community.

"This came idea came from myself identifying that there were a number of adult teams not happy with their curretny grass provisionals, so I came up with the suggestion of getting pitches up to standard for our adult teams, but also our junior teams.

"It's fantastic to see this come off, and I would like to thank everyone involved in making this happen."

It will cost just £25 per team to use the number of pitches available on the new site (opposite the Burn Naze Pub) and this will include netting to be put up on the goals on the required pitch. If you have any enquries of booking, people contact us on (01253) 208440.
