Fresh from signing for the club last week, Ryan Taylor sat down with the media at Poolfoot Farm on Thursday before the weekend’s game against Barnsley.

The former Newcastle United man has received international clearance, and is eligible to feature against The Reds at Highbury on Saturday.

Check out the key quotes from Ryan’s pre-match press conference…

On joining Fleetwood Town…

“I’m really pleased to be here. I was due to come here early in pre-season but I left India with a slight problem which held me back. I was always in contact with the gaffer and he said to me that when I was ready, I could come in. The timing wasn’t perfect as I’ve missed a few games and training, but now I’ve been here for the best part of a month, I feel great and ready to go.

“As soon as the manager told me he wanted me in his plans for this season, for me it was a no brainer.”

On his relationship with Joey Barton…

“The dynamic is different now to when he was a player – he can shout at me from 40 yards instead of five now!

“I can already see a big change in the way he handles himself as a manager compared to when he was a player. Every time I see him he just looks so comfortable in his role. He looks like he’s enjoying it, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the new chapter has to offer.”

On bringing experience into the squad…

“You just have to change your game a little and adapt from there. I grew up in this league when I was 17/18, so I know what the league is all about. You need energy, but you need calm heads because games can get tough in this league.

“I’ve had chats with the manager about what he wants from me, and I just want to get going. I’ve played across positions throughout my career, but we’ve got a plan and a couple of things in mind and hopefully over the next couple of weeks I can showcase that if selected.”
