Fleetwood Town midfielder Harrison Biggins scored his first senior goal for the club in their 3-1 home defeat to Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old’s early strike gave Joey Barton’s men the ideal start to the game, but unfortunately the Cod Army were unable to capitalise on that, with Jacob Brown and Kieffer Moore scoring before the interval.

Mamadou Thiam netted a late third to ensure the Yorkshire side went home with all three points. But with Biggins starting for the first time this season in the league, and getting his first goal for the club, it will be a day the youngster remembers.

Here are the key quotes from Harrison Biggins’ post-match interview:

Biggins on his first senior goal…

“I’m delighted to get that goal out of the way!

“Obviously it felt good to see the ball hit the back of the net, but it’s the result what counts at the end of the match.

“Personally, I have done what I needed to do when the chance arrived, and hopefully now I play again on Tuesday, but that’s not for me to decide.”

Biggins on Fleetwood’s start to the match…

“We started the first 20 minutes really well, and had a few chances and when we scored, I felt we took our foot off the gas a little bit.

“Scoring should be a reason for us to push on a little bit, and obviously something to defend as well.

“I think two sloppy goals we conceded just put us on the back foot as we went into the break at half-time.”

Biggins on the chances and the quick turn-around for Wycombe…

“Today possibly the final ball was lacking. I think in the second half we pushed, and we did create a couple of chances in front of goal.

“There were a couple of half chances and obviously we never managed to get the goal we wanted, but hopefully it’ll be a quick turnaround on Tuesday.

“Now that there’s only a couple of days now until we’ll be back here, and for the lads, it’s a great chance for us to put things right, and get three points.”
