Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Alex Cairns was on press duty at Poolfoot Farm ahead of Saturday’s game at Doncaster.

Since being named as Town’s number one in the summer, Cairns has kept three clean sheets already this season and will be looking for another one at third place Doncaster Rovers, alongside three points.

Cairns – who was born in Doncaster, believes his side will take the positives from the last two home games, and go to the Keepmoat and take all three points.

Here are the key quotes from Alex Cairns’ press conference…

Cairns on this weekend’s opponents…

“Doncaster have started off brilliantly, but didn’t get the result they wanted on Tuesday night so they will be looking to bounce back from that and put in a performance against us, and gain momentum.

“We will be trying our best to stop them and then for us to try and score a few goals and I do believe that when results do fall our way, we will continue to grow and who knows where we can go.”

Cairns on the run and what it is down too…

“We are going through a process and the lads are still buying into that process bearing in mind that we have a lot of new players this season, and we are only eleven games in the campaign.

“I think we have a good base to build on from, and I believe that when we get that next win, the second one will follow and that will continue. The players also believe and that is the good thing about this squad.

“Personally I have always had the mindset that no matter what the previous result was, we go out in the next game wanting to win and the other lads are similar to me. We see Saturday’s trip to Doncaster as a great opportunity to pick up three points.”

Cairns on going back to his hometown…

“It will be nice to go back home to see family and some friendly faces, and at the moment, my mum and dad are away, but I will call them after the match and see talk about the match.

“A lot of my family have always followed Doncaster, but I wouldn’t say they were fans as they have always followed where me and my brother have been. My dad checks their results, but at the same time, they look at results at Fleetwood and where my brother is playing his football.

“Even though it is nice to go back, I am going there with a job to do, and that is to go and pick up all three points!”
